Friday Catch up!

Friday, May 22 - CATCH-UP DAY!
MUST DO- DO ALL
Reading:
* This week you focused on author’s craft… things that authors do on purpose to make their writing look or sound a certain way. You even thought about the lesson the author wants you to learn from the story! You are definitely getting ready for 3rd grade with all of that great thinking about your reading!

* If you completed the assigned reading activities for the week, sometime today or this weeked, read for at least 20 minutes from any book of your choice. You can even read books on Epic or other online resources.
Math:
* This week you worked on subtracting from 3 and 4-digit numbers and explaining how you solved them.

* If you completed the assigned math pages this week (pages 335-336 and 339-342), spend time today or this weekend practicing math facts or playing a math fact game.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
*Keep in mind, you need to know your basic math facts of addition and subtraction by the time you enter 3rd Grade.   Your goal as a 2nd grader is to be able to do 30 problems in 3 minutes!

***You keep doing those math facts now and over the summer and you’ll be in great shape for 3rd Grade!  (Hint:  Knowing your addition and subtraction facts will help you greatly with understanding the multiplication and division concepts!)
Writing:
1. Be sure you have finished the piece of opinion writing you did for the book or book series you think every second grader must read!

  • Read it over carefully in order to catch careless mistakes in capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

  • Be sure to compare your piece of writing with the OREO Checklist to make sure you have all the parts!

  • *Don’t forget to share it with me on SeeSaw!

***Use this new Opinion Writing Resources for 2nd Grade for all of the videos, charts, and examples we’ve used so far for learning about Opinion Writing!

2. Free choice Writing!  (Write in your Writer’s Notebook, Book Creator, other…)
