Timeline Reminder

Please remember that the 2nd graders timelines are due this coming Monday, February 3rd. Information was sent home with paper to complete the project last week and has also been updated on the blog. We are looking forward to presenting our timelines next week! 

*Please know that I am flexible and understand that things pop up. If for whatever reason your child needs a few extra days with the project, please let me know through e-mail or send a note with your child. Thank you!

Lunch update for 1-31-20

Just quick reminder regarding lunch tomorrow, January 31st.  The students will need to pick their option for the lunch count tomorrow morning.

Important People in History

This week, the 2nd graders have opportunities to read about many different important people. They will choose one person today and study them. The 2nd graders will create posters about their people, include timelines, and have an opportunity to participate in a living "wax museum" and dress up like their person. We will present our posters and living wax museum to our Paws Pals, Mr. Welnetz, and a few other adults in the building. More information about this will be coming home soon.

Updates and Reminders

Here are a few updates and reminders. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions! 

*I am officially done with doing running record assessments on all of the students! The kiddos did great! I was so excited to have the opportunity to work 1:1 with each of them and listen to them read. Their growth is exciting! New reading groups have been formed and you should see a new book coming home with your child this week if you haven't already. 

*This Friday, January 31st is a school-wide Sports Dress Up day.

*Monday, February 3rd is the due date for the 2nd grade Time Line project that was sent home last week. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask. Here is a copy of the letter that came home with the paper last week. (Click on image to enlarge.)

*Friday, February 7th is Suamico's annual Sweetheart Auction.

*There is NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, February 14th. 

Updates

Congratulations, Delaney, for winning our Cherry Pie spelling game this week! We are so proud of you! 

I enjoyed having lunch today with Riley and Jordy!! :) 

Ava and I recently found out that her mom had my mom for a teacher at Bay Port!! So cool! I loved the picture her mom sent in! :) Mr. Murphy and Mrs. Bender also had my mom as their teacher! Small world. 😊

Paws Pals

On Thursday, we met with our kindergarten Paws Pals from Mrs. Preston’s class! The 2nd graders got to help the kinders organize their apps on their new iPads! We had so much fun! 

Valentines Day Letter

Our Valentines Day letter will be coming home on pink paper with your child tonight. Here is an extra copy for you. :) 

*Please note my type-o... We will be making the boxes on Tuesday, February 11th, not 12th. :)

Also, as a reminder, we do have a gluten allergy in class. Thank you!

 

"Wonder"-ful Second Graders

We are always working on ways to be kind, confident and considerate kiddos! After reading "Wonder," we talked about how each of us are a wonder. They did a great job!

I Spy Spelling Game

We have been enjoying our phonics lessons! We reviewed sight words last week with a fun "I spy" sight word game! The kiddos had a blast! This is one you can practice at home, too!
