4-29-20 Activities

4-29-20 Reading
Session 1: Series Book Readers Collect Information about the Main Characters: Today I want to teach you that when readers become an expert on series books (when they read a lot of books in a series) they especially collect knowledge about the characters who are the stars of the series. 1. Please watch the video from Mrs. Bender. Collect Information About the Main Characters 2. I want you to work on flagging things you are noticing to help you collect information about your star characters. While you read one of the books in your new series that you chose yesterday, try and take notes. (You can use post-its if they are available, or you can write notes in a notebook or even on your iPad.)

4-29-20 Writing
*Remember that this week, you are working on producing **one** high quality piece of writing. I want you to work on writing one piece over three days. *Today, you will only focus on the MIDDLE of your writing piece. (**Please do not go ahead.**) 1. Watch the video of Miss Mikle teaching you how to write a good middle. (Opinion Writing: Focus on the Middle) 2. Reread the beginning that you wrote yesterday. You can make changes or work on correcting any spelling errors you notice. 3. Think about your reasons for your opinion. Write a sentence that tells your reason for your opinion. Then explain that reason with at least one sentence. (Hint: Today’s writing should have two paragraphs. Each paragraph should have a sentence stating a reason and sentences that explain that reason.)
