Holiday cards and sweaters :)

Last week and early this week, we had fun making cards for the staff in our school and passing them out!
Mr. Welnetz stopped by to take a group picture with us on our Holiday Sweater day! :)

Updates

In writing, the 2nd graders have been learning about and writing informative pieces. They have thought about topics that they are experts on and taken the time to plan out their ideas and organize everything they know about their topics before writing about them. They are doing a great job!

For Social Studies, we have been studying maps and globes. Recently, we have started a fun activity with maps! The 2nd graders are working in partnerships or groups of three to design a map of the North Pole for their BeeBots to travel. They are doing a great job with this project and are looking forward to using the BeeBots on Monday. Here were their directions:

Yesterday, the kiddos earned their first December Santa Reward! They got to wear their pajamas to school and Mr. Pagel came in to read "The Polar Express" to them. They really enjoyed it and even earned another point towards their next Santa Reward from Mr. Pagel!

We have a very busy week ahead of us before break! I'm looking forward to all of the activities and fun that we have planned. If you haven't had a chance to read the letter about next week yet, please take a peek at the blog post from earlier this week:

Have a great weekend!

Mooseltoe

We recently read a cute holiday book called, "Mooseltoe." It's a story about a moose who thinks he has everything in order for the holidays until he realizes he has forgotten a pretty big thing! :) Afterwards, the kiddos wrote about a time that things didn't go "perfectly perfect" for them and what they did about it. Check out a few examples of their work below:

Happy Birthday, Sierra

Updates

We celebrated Draxton's birthday last Friday! Happy Birthday, Drax! We hope you had a fantastic day! Your cupcakes were delicious... thank you!

Grady got new glasses last week! Doesn't he look great?!

Ephram won our "Cherry Pie" spelling game last week... again!! We are so proud of him!

We were grateful for Jordy and Grady last week! They worked together to un-jam our white board drawer. Way to go!

Last week, we had a (very) short power outage. We took the opportunity to get in some flashlight partner reading! The kiddos did great with it!

Last week, we brought in our donations for the Giving Tree! We appreciate the families that were able to donate to this great cause. After school on Wednesday, I went to the Giving Tree with Ms. Mikle, Mrs. Bender and Aria to drop off the donations. They were so appreciative and assured us that the families would really appreciate all of the wonderful donations!

I want to also say THANK YOU to all of the families that have brought in things for school lately. I appreciate the donations to the Giving Tree, donations for our Sweetheart Auction basket and donations for our secret surprise holiday craft! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Holiday Concert

The 2nd graders did a fantastic job with their Holiday Concert this morning! Here are a few pictures. Also, please check out our SeeSaw account for three videos of their songs. They can be found under A.J.'s account as I used his iPad for recording. :)
